REALTOR® Code of Ethics Frequently Asked Q&A’s:
All REALTORS® are required to complete the National Association of REALTORS® (“NAR”) Code of Ethics (“COE”) training at least once during each given period.
Q: What is a “given period”?
A: 6th Period = Jan 1, 2019 through December 31, 2020; 7th Period = Jan 1, 2021 through December 31, 2022(and so on).
Q: My Real Estate 14-hour CE Course includes 3 hours of Ethics and Business Practices. Does this also count toward the National Association of REALTORS® (“NAR”) Code of Ethics (“COE”) training tequirement?
Q: Does my Real Estate 45-hour or 60-hour post-licensing course satisfy NAR’s COE training requirement?
Q: Does my GRI 101 course satisfy NAR’s COE training requirement?
Q: I’m an attorney and I am a REALTOR®. Does NAR’s COE training requirement apply to me?
Q: I’m an appraiser and I am a REALTOR®. Does NAR’s COE training requirement apply to me?
Q: I’m a REALTOR® with Emeritus status. Does NAR’s COE training requirement apply to me?
Q: If I complete my COE training outside of NABOR, is NABOR automatically notified?
Q: As the broker of my firm, can I obtain a list of my REALTORS® who have not complied with the current COE training?
A: YES. Log on to NABOR.com through the “Pay Online” button. Select “Broker Reports.” Then, with your mouse, click anywhere inside the “Active Agents” box and select “Code of Ethics Status – Non Compliant.”
